A very BIG Thank You to all those who helped me raise thousands of pounds at my 7th Comic Relief Wine Fair.  400 wine lovers poured into The Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh on the eve of Red Nose Day with their RED NOSES to sample over 150 wines from 27 exhibitors.

Wine retailers from across the UK came to support Scotland's Comic Relief wine event – including The Wine Society, Berry Bros & Rudd, Alpine Wines, Naked Wines, Oddbins, Majestic Wine, Virgin Wines, Harvey Nichols, Vino wine shops, Raeburn Wines, Great Grog, Woodwinters (pictured right), Drinkmonger, Calistoga, Cornelius Wine, Appellation Wine, Bacco Wine, Villeneuve Wines, Valvona & Crolla, Luvians, Lidl, Asda and Waitrose.

Bidding was fierce at my live auction for a Michelin-starred six course tasting dinner at The Peat Inn donated by chef/patron Geoffrey Smeddle which sold for £520.  A rare signed magnum of Champagne AR Lenoble Grand Cru Vintage 1996 sold for £390, a magnum of Champagne Charles Heidsieck NV sold for £110 and a jeroboam of Champagne Moet & Chandon NV sold for £250.  A Presidential Tasting Dinner for four people at Edinburgh's Calistoga restaurant sold for £270.

Winner of the 'Wines of New Zealand' blind tasting competition was Drew Gordon. Winner of 'Thinking Chocolate' Chocolate & Wine matching competition was Stuart McKay.  There were 10 lucky winners of the Sherry competition hosted by Spanish food and wine retailer Goya23.

The raffle tickets were drawn by fellow Master of Wine Philippa Carr, Head of Wine Quality at supermarket Asda.

Comic Relief Wine Tasting EdinburghPrizes included a Cornetto Decanter donated by Riedel, magnums of Champagne Pol Roger and Champagne Taittinger, £100 Corney & Barrow Scotland voucher, £50 Aldi voucher, cases of wine donated by Naked Wines, magnum of Zuccardi Q donated by Alliance Wine, World Atlas of WIne donated by Mitchell Beazley and more.

We will be announcing the final figure sent to Wine Relief / Comic Relief in due course – once all the bills have been received and paid.
