Greece has been undergoing a wine renaissance. It has the longest wine tradition in Europe - and in this new modern era its focus on quality is producing very interesting complex wines from a new generation of artisan wineries. The tasting will focus on 13 wines - including their fabulous minerally whites and juicy reds. Greece is a challenging country to understand with its diverse mountainous wine regions, islands and host of indigenous grapes. This evening's deep dive into all things Greek will explain its complex geology and microclimates within its wine regions and diverse islands (from Santorini to Crete) and its amazing treasure trove of local grapes. Discover the taste of Assyrtiko, Moschofilero and Malagousia whites - and Xinomavro, Agriogitiko and Mandilaria reds - and more. A selection of fine cheeses will also be served alongside the wines. The […] The Cabernet Franc grape is now coming into its own. In the past it has been used primarily in blends and as a 'filler', but now winegrowers worldwide have realised that this varietal's wonderful fragrance and freshness can produce sensationally good varietal wines. Join us to sample 13 Cabernet Francs from across the world - from Loire in France - to Hungary, Italy, New York State, South Africa, Argentina, California and beyond. This grape is great at adapting to different climates and soils - and different winemaking styles. It can also deliver great flavour at moderate alcohol levels. Cabernet Franc's origins are unclear - it is believed to have originated from the Spanish Pais Vasco Basque country - and it became dominant on the west coast of France until it was overshadowed by its offsprings Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot everywhere […] Barossa - which encompasses both Barossa and Eden Valleys - is one of Australia's most historic regions with plenty of old vine vineyard sites and more than 175 years of grape growing and winemaking history. It is also home to Australia's largest plantings of old ungrafted vines. Whilst Eden is well known for its Riesling and Viognier and Barossa is known for its Shiraz and Grenache - there is a wealth of other grape varieties to explore in Barossa. For whites, Semillon, Grenache Gris, Roussanne to Clairette - and Cinsault, Mourvedre, Nero d'Avola, Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon for reds. Sample 13 wines from this famous region selected by Rose from leading Barossa producers. The wines will be accompanied by a selection of artisan cheeses. No prior knowledge required - just a love of Australian wine. A fun relaxed fizz tasting sampling Champagne & sparkling wine with Rose as your guide. Enjoy a fizz aperitif on arrival. At the seated tasting you will then sample a further 8 wines served in pairs - with one from Champagne and another high quality sparkling wine from elsewhere in the world in each pair. See if you can spot the difference between New Zealand fizz, Prosecco, Cava, English sparkling wine and the real thing - Champagne. After the tasting, enjoy a delicious two course fork buffet with a selection of further samples of wines to try from around the world chosen by Rose. Book a table with your friends or book yourself a place and we will put you on a table with like-minded Champagne lovers. No knowledge required to enjoy it - just a love of fizz. This […] An explosive expo on volcanic wines! Volcanic soils account for just 1% of the world's surface, but they are highly sought after by vinegrowers. The style of wines produced are so distinctive and intriguing due to their incredible tension, concentrated acidity and mineral compounds. Many volcanic regions are also phylloxera-free so some vines are ungrafted and extremely old - adding to the complexity of the wines. This evening will offer a deep dive into all things volcanic - with a chance to sample 13 wines from across the world: including Hungary, Sicily, Santorini, Campania, Basilicata, Soave, Canary Islands, Oregon and beyond. No prior knowledge required to enjoy this - just a love of fine wine. A selection of artisan cheeses will also be served alongside the wines.
