We are delighted to announce that one of France’s most exciting winemakers will be hosting a fine wine dinner at Papple Steading in East Lothian.

Olivier Humbrecht MW was France’s very first Master of Wine  – and one of few French winemakers to still hold this title.

He runs his 40 hectare family domaine, Domaine Zind Humbrecht, in Alsace in eastern France.  The Humbrecht family have been winegrowers here since 1620, but the domaine was founded by his father in 1959.

Olivier is a leading advocate of organic and biodynamic viticulture and has raised the quality of his domaine’s wines beyond expectation.

Olivier produces sensational textured flavourful wines from low yielding vines, focusing with incredible attention to detail in vineyard and cellar.  His insightfulness in all aspects of the world of wine is fascinating – and he is also one of the most charming winemakers you will meet.  Olivier will be attending the dinner with his Scottish wife Margaret.

The evening will begin with a sparkling reception with Zind Humbrecht’s Clos Windsbuhl Chardonnay methode traditionnelle fizz – followed by a selection of wines from the domaine focusing on their stunning Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminers – matched to a four course menu curated by Papple’s talented consultant chef Scott Smith (formerly of Fhior in Edinburgh) and Papple’s head chef Chris O’Connor (formerly of The Caledonian).

ABOUT PAPPLE STEADING:

This historic C19 renovated steading (which opened in early 2026), with its adjoining restaurant, has been receiving rave reviews from critics for both its stunning architectural renovation and fine wine dining experience.  It is in a beautiful setting in the foothills of the Lammermuir Hills near the village of East Linton in East Lothian – 20 miles east of Edinburgh (45 mins drive from central Edinburgh).

6.30pm Canape & sparkling wine reception will be held in the new Richard Demarco gallery – followed by a 4 course dinner with 7 accompanying wines in Eve’s Court restaurant  at 7.15pm – all within the new Steading complex.
