A rare chance to compare two South African areas in detail: Elgin Valley and Walker Bay.

Sample 13 wines from two of the Cape’s top wine regions – with wines from leading producers – hosted by Master of Wine Rose Murray Brown.

Elgin in South Africa’s coolest region – an apple growing area – which was first planted with vines in 1986 by Dr Paul Cluver.  It now specialises in premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay – as well as Riesling, Merlot and Shiraz.  It was declared an official wine ward in 1990 – and is technically a district of the Cape South Coast.

Walker Bay is another cool climate region, with a more direct maritime influence from the Benguela Current and Antartic.  This area, near the beautiful seaside town of Hermanus, was first developed in the 1970s.  Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson were the first to establish vineyards and have now been joined by numerous producers in its heartland, Hemel en Aarde valley.  The region is now world famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

A selection of artisan cheeses & biscuits will also be served alongside the wines.

This tasting would make a great gift for anyone who loves South African wines.
