| £55.00Discover two of France’s hidden gems – the regions of Jura and Savoie in eastern France.
Sample 13 wines from across the two regions – from leading producers – with Master of Wine Rose Murray Brown to guide you.
Jura is an enchanting region tucked between the slopes of the Jura mountains and the Bresse plain – with just 2,000 hectares of vines – and 200 producers. There is more soil diversity here than in Burgundy. The region specialises in white wines (which dominate 80% of production) with Chardonnay and Savagnin the two main white grapes. Three red grapes, Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir are grown on lower warmer soils. Jura makes an amazingly diverse style of wines which will be highlighted in the tasting – from its famous Vin Jaune, Cremant du Jura, Chardonnay, Savagnin and red blends.
Savoie is the leading region of the French Alps – a stunningly beautiful mountainous region well known to skiers. It also has about 2,000 hectares of vines stretching from Lac Leman and Ayze east of Geneva near Mont Blanc in Haut Savoie where Chasselas, Gringet and Mondeuse grapes are grown – down to southerly Chambery and the Maurienne valley where Jacquere, Altesse, Persan and Mondeuse are grown.
The wines will be accompanied by a selection of artisan cheeses & biscuits.
A great gift for the adventurous wine lover.
