Cabernet Franc around the World Masterclass: SOLD OUT!
October 17|7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
| £55.00The Cabernet Franc grape is now coming into its own. In the past it has been used primarily in blends and as a ‘filler’, but now winegrowers worldwide have realised that this varietal’s wonderful fragrance and freshness can produce sensationally good varietal wines.
Join us to sample 13 Cabernet Francs from across the world – from Loire in France – to Hungary, Italy, New York State, South Africa, Argentina, California and beyond. This grape is great at adapting to different climates and soils – and different winemaking styles. It can also deliver great flavour at moderate alcohol levels.
Cabernet Franc’s origins are unclear – it is believed to have originated from the Spanish Pais Vasco Basque country – and it became dominant on the west coast of France until it was overshadowed by its offsprings Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot everywhere apart from the Loire – but now its fortunes are changing.
The wines will be accompanied by a selection of artisan cheeses & biscuits.
No knowledge required to enjoy this – just a love of fine wine.
